Ukrainian Soldiers Lay Down Arms at Mariupol’s Azovstal Steel Plant

Ukraine has confirmed that hundreds of its fighters trapped for more than two months in Mariupol's Azovstal steelworks have been evacuated. Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar said 53 badly wounded soldiers were taken to the town of Novoazovsk, held by Russian-backed rebels. She said another 211 were evacuated using a humanitarian corridor to Olenivka - another rebel-held town. Russia earlier said a deal had been reached to evacuate the injured troops. About a dozen buses carrying Ukrainian fighters who were holed up beneath the besieged plant were seen leaving the huge industrial site in the southern port city on Monday evening, Reuters news agency reported. Russian state-run media outlets also posted footage of what they say were injured Ukrainian soldiers being evacuated from Azovstal. Ms Maliar said the troops would be exchanged for captured Russian soldiers. In his video address after midnight local time on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainia

Ambitious designs for underwater 'space station' and habitat unveiled

Ambitious designs for underwater 'space station' and habitat unveiled Sixty feet beneath the surface of the Caribbean Sea, aquanaut Fabien Cousteau and industrial designer Yves Béhar are envisioning the world's largest underwater research station and habitat. The pair have unveiled Fabien Cousteau's Proteus, a 4,000-square-foot modular lab that will sit under the water off the coast of Curaçao, providing a home to scientists and researchers from across the world studying the ocean -- from the effects of climate change and new marine life to medicinal breakthroughs. Designed as a two-story circular structure grounded to the ocean floor on stilts, Proteus' protruding pods contain laboratories, personal quarters, medical bays and a moon pool where divers can access the ocean floor. Powered by wind and solar energy, and ocean thermal energy conversion, the structure will also feature the first underwater greenhouse for growing food, as well as a video production facilit
Dark matter, mysterious invisible stuff that makes up most of the mass of galaxies including our own Milky Way, is confounding scientists again, with new observations of distant galaxies conflicting with the current understanding of its nature. Research published this week revealed an unexpected discrepancy between observations of dark matter concentrations in three massive clusters of galaxies encompassing trillions of stars and theoretical computer simulations of how dark matter should be distributed. "Either there is a missing ingredient in the simulations or we have made a fundamental incorrect assumption about the nature of dark matter," Yale University astrophysicist Priyamvada Natarajan, a co-author of the study published in the journal Science, said on Friday. Dark matter is the invisible glue that holds stars together inside a galaxy. It also creates an invisible scaffold that enables galaxies to form clusters. But it has very peculiar properties. It does not

Tesla claimed its pickup truck was ‘bulletproof’ — then smashed its windows with a metal ball https://www.cnbc.com/video/2019/11/22/tesla-cybertruck-watch-elon-musk-unveil-new-electric-pickup.html Tesla  unveiled its  futuristic pickup truck  at a promotional event in Los Angeles, but when it came to showing off the vehicle’s durability, things didn’t quite go as planned. CEO  Elon Musk  claimed the car was “bulletproof” against a 9mm handgun. But when he got Tesla’s chief designer to throw a metal ball at one of its armored windows, audible surprise could be heard as the glass smashed — twice. “Oh my f------ God,” Musk exclaimed when it first happened. “Well, maybe that was a little too hard.” Design lead Franz Von Holzhausen gave it another shot, this time with another window. Again, the ball cracked the glass pretty badly. This was after the executive had already taken a sledgehammer to the side of the truck, str

Skills Of The Future: The Employability Mentality

... (several lines of code) ... The meaning attached to the word “jobs” is currently undergoing a revolutionary change. The conventional seemingly “top notch” jobs are undergoing massive threat from the influx of what newness has to offer to the human experience. Aspirations are currently undergoing an absolute disruption, and the conventional day to day hustle of the average man needs some re-aligning, to avoid wasting sweat on gaining skills in areas of absolute irrelevancies. One must be careful to not confuse busyness for productivity. There’s a need for strategic pursuit; to pursue that which is necessary in the most competitive space to attain global relevance. The question then is, to what degree of relevance is your current job? How truly necessary is the skill you are currently trying so hard to acquire? The World Economic Forum in its newest report “The Future of Jobs” makes a detailed attempt at predicting how the typical work space will look like in the co
